I'm so proud

This is a shameless plug for my husband's new project for VH-1. He's working on the V-Spot online videos, and has been having a wee of a time. Check out his red carpet Q&A and feel free to comment...it's the one with Flavor Flav's photo next to it.

Men in tights

I can't even begin to comment on this, but apparently Marni is showing men's leggings in their Fall collection. Anyone have an opinion on this breaking fashion news story? Via Yahoo news.

I heart you

I am really into Valentine's day, so I will probably post a whole bunch of ideas for gifts and activities (clean ones that is) for this most romantic of holidays.
Here is post #2 filed under Valentine gifts and is not for the faint of heart. It is a silk scarf hand painted by Crystal J. with anatomically correct hearts on it. From Etsy. Delightful!

French it up!

Here's a kind of cool idea for storage in your kitchen...how about a bistro shelf. Perfect for displaying cheeses at a party, or just to store your spices and other junk on. The shelf fully disassembles for easy storage, but frankly I think it's pretty enough to have a permanent home on my counter.

Roadtrip anyone?

Jane and Michael Stern are regular commentators on my favorite radio program "Splendid Table" on a public radio station near you, and are experts in the best places to find good food across America. In this article they discuss a topic very near and dear to my heart, the best hotdogs in the land. Check out their hot dog roundup via Seriouseats.com

Free stuff!

Thanks to Aaron for pointing out these interesting print it out stick it together free things via core 77. Not sure what they are used for, but are surely a better use of company paper and color ink than any pie chart or bar graph.

Hands free drinkin'

I don't think that I've ever been in a situation where I couldn't actually hold the beer I was drinking, but I can think of at least a couple of reasons you might need a Beer holster...for example, maybe you are a teenage babysitter taking care of twins (soda only now), or maybe you are just playing Warioware on the WII (a really superior game fyi) and need both hands free. Well whatever the reason, responsible drinking can be at your fingertips! Via www.starsandinfinitedarkness.com

I'll be tee-d if I don't get this shirt

Orange Lola is selling a variety of lovely sort of Mexican, sort of Dutch tee shirts especially for Valentines Day. Hope my husband is reading today because I would really really like one!

This one's for the fellas

It has recently come to my attention that I have neglected the men-folk when looking at interesting wallets. Please accept my apology and check out these neat wallets available at Composition Design. The blue wallet has the big dipper on it by the way so you can never get lost while carrying it!

Hey elephant legs

Somehow I think these would not be all that flattering on me...

Bag lady fever

I haven't yet seen this bag in person, but it has the prerequisite shape for a spring bag and a graphic pattern. Gotta love it!

Eat me

Fishs Eddy has a new line of Alice in Wonderland plates, platters and glasses that are so...um...trippy. The photos really do no justice to them. Available online from Fishs Eddy

Wishing for snow

It's Dolly time

Does anyone need a Dolly Parton necklace?
Boy are you in luck since I found you one over at Etsy. Enjoy!

On why I am fat

There are 789 restaurants just in my little neighborhood here in the East Village. Take a look at this map from Urban Spoon where you can see restaurant data for all NYC neighborhoods.

Room and (not) bored

Sunday we took a trip over to the Room & Board showroom and found some real gems like the Hutton couch shown above. It reminds me of a couch that my grandma might have had, or at least the sort of couch she would have loved. Boy am I feeling nostalgic today or what!
Although the photos do no justice check out the Wegner chair, the Kincaid cabinet, and the Nelson desk or better yet find a Room & Board near you. Good stuff.

Phone...with wire!!!

I like the idea of having an actual wired phone. It reminds me of spending countless hours on the phone as a teenager and stretching the phone cord as far as possible in order to reach the couch comfortably.
Yes, I am that old...but I digress...
This company sources old phones from Argentina and fully refurbishes them. They are a little expensive but a trip down memory lane aint cheap! Buy one for yourself at Homerepublic.com and give that old boyfriend/girlfriend a call. Ok, that's a really bad idea but the phone is cool anyhow!

Snakes on a bike

Yet another inappropriate for NY post for y'all...but I love these bike locks from Pylones. This lock would last about 2.5 minutes out on the street here so I'm really just sending this to my out of town brothers and sisters...you lucky devils!

Wine wall

Wow, I really wish I had a bigger kitchen where a wine display such as this from Modern Cellar would be appropriate. Can't you just imagine my collection of Boone's Farm wines in this? Ooh la la!

Yea! Boo.

Today I am off for work for MLK Jr's birthday...yea!
I had a great breakfast at 7A and headed out to shop with my bud Aaron. It was all going so well until we happened upon our favorite bag store, Jack Gomme, and discovered it is going out of business! Boo!
If you happen to be in NYC head on over to their shop at 252 Elizabeth street where everything is 30-70% off until they run out of goodies. Yea and Boo at the same time!!!
Fans of Jack Gomme will have to make do with buying their fabulous bags at Takashimaya and Big Bag. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
